Gmail for Android, iOS can now use your web (email) signature

If you haven’t set a mobile-specific signature in Gmail for Android or iOS, the app will now default to using your web signature. This means emails sent from your phone will include the same formatting, images, and logos as your desktop signature.

Mobile-specific signatures can still be customized:

  • Android: Settings > [Your email address] > Mobile signature

  • iOS: Settings > Signature settings

If no mobile signature is set, Gmail will automatically apply your web signature when sending emails from the app.

Gmail Mobile Now Uses Web Signatures by Default — Unless You Set a Custom One

Google has started rolling out a new Gmail update where, if you haven’t set a mobile-specific signature on Android or iOS, the app will automatically use your web signature. This includes full support for images, logos, and text formatting—just like when sending emails from the desktop.

To prevent this, Google recommends setting a custom mobile signature (even something as simple as your name).

  • Android: Settings > [Email address] > Mobile signature

  • iOS: Settings > Signature settings

The change is rolling out now and will be fully available in the coming weeks. It applies to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account users.

Gemini App Workspace Integrations Now in Open Beta on Mobile

In related news, Google has launched Workspace apps (formerly called Workspace Extensions) for the Gemini app on Android and iOS, now available in open beta for enterprise and Workspace users.

These integrations are expected to roll out fully by the end of April. Once enabled, Gemini will be able to pull context across Gmail, Docs, Calendar, and Drive—so users can interact with their data directly through the Gemini app, without switching between services.
