Samsung Ends Software Support for Several Popular Mid-Range Phones
Samsung’s once-revolutionary mid-range devices are officially reaching the end of their software support life. Following the recent news that the Galaxy S20 series will no longer receive updates, several mid-range Galaxy models have now joined them.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 have been removed from Samsung’s software support list. These devices will no longer receive new security updates, although any updates that were already in development may still be released.
Support for the enterprise version of the Galaxy A52 5G has also ended. However, enterprise versions of the Galaxy A52 and A52s will continue to receive security updates for now. The regular versions of those two models, along with the standard A52 5G, are no longer eligible for updates.
Additionally, the Galaxy A32 has also reached the end of its software support period. All of these mid-range devices received approximately four years of updates before being phased out.
The Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 marked a turning point for Samsung’s mid-range lineup. With features like IP67 water and dust resistance, high refresh rate displays, stereo speakers, and 5G connectivity, these devices helped reestablish Samsung as a key player in the competitive mid-range market.
Phones like the Galaxy A56 are seen as the continuation of a strategy that began in 2021 and still shapes Samsung’s approach today. Notably, the Galaxy A72 was the first Samsung mid-range phone to feature a telephoto camera—a distinction it still uniquely holds.
