It seems that Google’s Veo 2 AI charges 50 cents for generating a video per second.
Currently, Veo 2 is limited to producing two-minute clips with a maximum 4K resolution, which is significantly more than the 20-second 1080p clips created with OpenAI’s Sora model.
Comparing the pricing of Sora and Veo 2 is a bit more complicated, as OpenAI uses a subscription-based approach. A monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription, costing $200, allows users to create up to 500 videos per month. With the Plus plan, users can create a maximum of 50 videos at 720p resolution, each lasting five seconds. In contrast, Veo 2 users pay separately whenever they need to use the model.
Google is currently testing Veo 2 as a tool for content creation on YouTube Shorts through the Dream Screen feature. Initially, Veo 2 was only available via the VideoFX tool in Google Labs, but Google has promised to make it available for short videos on YouTube by 2025.
According to Google, the cost of using the Gemini 2.0 Flash AI assistant is $1 per million audio tokens, while for the Gemini 2.0 Flash Lite model, it costs 7.5 cents. Additionally, creating each image with the Imagen 3 model will cost four cents.
